Are You a Type 2
Diabetic in Denial?
Start living your
healthiest life.
"The CDC has reported that only 26.4% of US adults with diabetes are reaching their A1C goals"
Given that statistic, I'm convinced many diabetics share my experience—slightly overweight, rarely active, and continuing to eat as they please since their twenties.
They ignore reality by basically abusing their diabetes meds in order to keep themselves feeling well enough to eat badly. Then those inner conversations begin about how good they'll need to be for a couple of days, until confidence returns and the denial cycle starts all over.
The reality of this behavior labels them Denyabetics™
"That's not failure. That's denial. And it's more common than anyone admits"
Denyabetic™ is here to disrupt the diabetes conversation and reach these people by shedding light on denial… diabetics who actually need the ice water of reality thrown at them.
Pre-CGMs you tested your blood 3X a day. Then…never.
You miss some daily medications and your A1C remains high.
You skip doctor appointments to avoid tough love and bad news.
You deny the CGM reading and order food that makes it higher.
If you recognize this behavior pattern you’re a Denyabetic™.
Let’s start accepting the long-term effects of diabetes… we’re here to help.
When I first started using a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system it was an epiphany. It is the most valuable tool in my Type 2 diabetes management. It allows me to see my glucose spikes in real time, on my phone, mid-meal… it makes the invisible impossible to deny. While having this live, visible connection between what I eat and what happens to my blood glucose is amazing, I soon realized how challenged I was when the food noise kept winning. I watched as the numbers climbed way above 185 (the Goldilocks zone) and began stubbornly refusing to fix what I was watching as I denied the truth, making me the Denyabetic™.
"Admitting you are a Denyabetic™ is the first step on the journey"
I'm sure there are many type 2 diabetics like me around the world. Smart enough to know the risks but struggling to avoid them. I hope my stories about the avoidable health scares I've endured will hit a nerve, events that have changed my Denyabetic™ behavior and may help you begin to change yours.
